First 2023 Corvette Z06 Goes for $3.6 Million at Auction

Chevrolet hasn’t revealed the price of the 2023 Corvette Z06 yet, but the first one has sold for $3.6 million.

To be clear, we expect the final price of the race-bred Z06 to be in the low six figures, not seven. But Chevy isn’t expected to reveal the number until March at the earliest. They sold example number 001 in an auction to benefit Operation Homefront, a national nonprofit that provides services to military families and post 9/11 wounded, ill, or injured veterans across the United States.

The buyer was Rick Hendrick, founder of the Hendrick Automotive Group and owner of the winningest team in NASCAR.

Hendrick will drive home (or, more likely, trailer home) a Z06 powered by a flat-crankshaft 5.5-liter V8 making 670 horsepower. GM painted it a vibrant yellow. Hendricks also bought one of the first 70th anniversary Corvettes for his collection.

“The proceeds from the sale of this sensational Corvette Z06 will go a long way to helping us help our military families overcome their financial hardships and have the opportunity to thrive in the communities – our communities – they’ve worked so hard to protect,” said Brig. Gen. (ret.) John I. Pray Jr., president and CEO of Operation Homefront.
